Pete competed in plenty of sports growing up including rugby till his mid 20’s but an injury cut his rugby career short. Eight years ago Pete took up cycling as a hobby and a way to keep in shape. When he won his club’s Time Trial League his first season he realized how strong of a cyclist he’d become. Pete is currently biking around 350 miles a week, and as the weather gets warmer the rides will get longer.
This year Pete is taking the plunge into solo ultra distance cycling. He has enlisted a coach to help him plan and prepare for success in the busy race season to come. His first event of the season will be in Sligo on April 12th. One of Pete’s main focuses for this season will be the Capital to Capital (Dublin to Belfast) UMCA record attempt, and hopefully a return to the Race Around Ireland, which is doubling as the European Championships in late August.
